Power2Hype is a Horizon Europe funded project, composed by a consortium of 11 partners with knowledge and expertise revolving around the electro-chemical sector and that cover different links of the H2O2 value chain. The consortium is made of solid, experienced and leading industrial organizations, renowned universities, research institutes and technology developers as well a communication agency.

Towards paired electrolysis by integration of the anodic and cathodic production of hydrogen peroxide

Power2Hype aims to use energy cost-effectively by utilizing electrons twice for the production of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide production is thus targeted at the cathode as well as the anode in a so-called paired 200% electrolyzer. WP3 deals with developing and efficiently coupling anodic and cathodic reactions to achieve an optimal convergent paired electrolysis for H2O2 production. Water, air, and renewable energy are the sole resources for future H2O2 production, utilizing a novel electrolyser and concentrator technology

In Power2Hype, our goal is to replace the energy- and resource-intensive anthraquinone process for hydrogen peroxide production with an environmentally friendly electrolysis process. This innovative approach requires only water, air and green electricity to produce this chemical. The key lies in a new tandem electrolysis, which maximizes electricity usage, along with an innovative electrolyser and concentrator technology.
